Geneva

Standing.  Restless leaning.  Wayward and stolen glances that issue from love affairs with a new phone.  The difference between walking, and walking away.

I would like to learn to get down the gestures of everyday life as they happen.  I  spent one afternoon on Geneva’s Rive gauche.  I played tourist and took furtive pictures of passersby like an awkward high school art student.  In the Fall, the Rive Gauche is a good place to find bored taxi drivers and women in swooping wool coats walking uphill into the cobbled streets of the Vieille Ville.  I find that the best subjects for this kind of referencing exercise are people in a hurry, or standing-still people who are too distracted to notice that they are doing something interesting.
